Mimicakes Beer Bread

Posted by lynnerm on December 26th, 2006. Filed under: bread recipes, easy peasy.

Natalie did not get the cooking gene from me, though I do enjoy baking on occasion. I liken myself to Lucy when it comes to kitchen skills. I mean well, but things always seem to go wrong. It’s like I have cooking ADD. I cannot seem to focus.

But even I did not eff up this recipe (today), and I wouldn’t have messed it up the first time had the directions been more specific. I like specific. I NEED specific.
So here they are specifically:

Preheat oven to 350 F.

In a bowl combine:

3 cups self-rising flour

1/2 cup sugar

1 12 oz beer (I’m a Corona girl, myself, so that’s what we have on hand, but anything will do.)

Mix.

Pour into a loaf pan. I spray it with nonstick spray because why take chances?

Bake for 50 min.

Remove from oven. (see? I told you SPECIFIC)

Melt 2 T butter and pour over hot bread.

Cool and enjoy.

Happy Festivus, y’all!

This bread was delish! I stuffed myself with beer bread and my cousin Mikey’s famous double baked potatoes because carbs are good and diets are for quitters.

Oh lord, I suppose I’ll have to make this for my husband with Anchor Steam or Guinness.
