Cat poo cake, new merch and prezzies for you!
Posted by Bake & Destroy on October 12th, 2009. Filed under: free stuff, giveaways, news & updates.I am currently working on a cupcake inspired by my favorite cuisine – Indian food. I’ve gone over the concept with Tony about 40 times until I finally have a plan that doesn’t make him say, “That sounds gross.” This is the guy who happily taste tested Nacho Cupcakes, mind you. So I hope to have that baked, tasted and posted this week. In the meantime, I thought I’d update you with some tidbits of pure awesome.
First of all, the October edition of Slash and Dine is posted over at BrutalAsHell.com and I think you’re going to like it! If it didn’t make me gag from how gross it looks the ingredients list would have made me sick anyway.
There were two interviews with me posted this month – one was on Gapers Block and the other over at Mixed Plate. I think my favorite part was that they both selected the same main photo. I am a self-portrait master!
Speaking of photos – I had a quick session with Ian D. Merritt this past Saturday and I think these are my favorite pictures ever! Oddly enough, my favorite part is that you can finally see my butt. I think I subconsciously hide my butt when I take pictures and it’s high time The Onion had it’s moment of glory. Fat bottomed girls make the rockin’ world go ’round, and I’m proud to be one of them. Tony likes it too.
In good news for you, Lyndsay over at Sweet Cuppin Cakes Bakery and Cupcakery Supplies has generously offered a $50 gift certificate to one of my readers this month! The Cupcakery carries everything from vintage-inspired cupcake toppers to handmade items from people you know and love like Caged Tomato and Cakespy. Be sure to check out the Halloween Party section for all your haunted cupcake supplies. (Keep reading to find out how you can win!)
A big, sexy congratulations to my main squeeze Melisser of The Urban Housewife not only on the re-launch of her blog (update your links, bitches!) but also on the soon-to-be opening of San Francisco’s first vegan storefront bakery, Sugar Beat Sweets! Melisser works so hard for what she believes in – volunteering so much time for animal rights causes, donating baked goods and getting the word out about veganism – I’m really proud of her and I wish her the best of luck. We love you, Melisser!
Finally – I’m coming out with two new color ways of Bake and Destroy shirts next week! (I’m also making more black and white – duh.) Stay tuned for Chicago Bears-inspired navy and orange T’s and hoodies as well as Thrasher-inspired red and black T’s! Those will be in the shop as early as next Tuesday.
So what color combo should I venture into next and why? Leave me a comment between now and 10/19 and one of you will win $50 to spend at Sweet Cuppin Cakes! Comments are closed – congrats to Jojo!

the photos look amazing and Teno is super cute.
for the shirt i’d love to see a seafoam or mint green with black writing, girls gotta break outta the black attire once in a while
October 12th, 2009 at 6:32 pm
pink and red. because everyone says it’s revolting but it’s actually majorly brilliant.
October 12th, 2009 at 6:33 pm
I say purple and lime green! It’s always the best combination.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:03 pm
I love the photos, and will be interested to hear about the results of your experiment. Ever try a Thai-inspired cupcake? I’m wondering this because Thai food combines sweet and savory so well – I bet a coconut cupcake would work with some kaffir lime and a hint of spice, or a sweet take on the spicy peanut dishes. Or Thai iced tea frosting…. I might just have to try this myself.

Personally, I would find a way to do a black and white check inspired by Vans, the only shoes worth wearing. I love you Vans!

Jon Kitley from KitleysKrypt.com was raving about Bake and Destroy at the Music Box Massacre this weekend, so I cruised by to check this out and I am really loving the blog. One question tho–forgive an addled vinyl junkie for asking, but are you selling these baked goodies anywhere? I’m dying to try some of this stuff.

Turquoise and Red! By the way, I loved the pictures. I now have kitchen and ink envy!
October 12th, 2009 at 8:27 pm
Ooh I’m a super fan of Aqua & Red. I also love Peach & Black! Both are kind of Frenchy and glamorous!
October 12th, 2009 at 8:30 pm
Hot pink and Orange or Turquoise and Red. I’m into the bright colors myself.
Looked at the pictures the other day. I thought Teno was extremely cute in all of them!! Okay and you are cute too.
BTW I see someone said purple and lime green..I’m a fan of that too!!
October 12th, 2009 at 9:46 pm

Okay, everyone’s taking my color combinations. I say black & lime green! Or something with turquoise!
Also, you are the best to me. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
October 13th, 2009 at 2:24 am
Turquoise and green, just because blue and green are my favorite colors!
I better get dibs on a medium navy and orange. ^^
October 13th, 2009 at 5:27 am
I’ll throw in the idea for pink and brown. Mostly because your shirts are cooler than those Bakelove ones… Thanks for another great giveaway!
October 13th, 2009 at 5:38 am
I’m voting for the good ole slasher black & red. I think it fits with the slogan well.
Beyond that, another color combo suggestion is hot pink on black. Kinda like this wild cheetah backdrop I’m looking at right now!
October 13th, 2009 at 6:12 am
i’m going with turquoise or bright blue shirt & black writing. eye-bleeding turquoise…lol
your photos are great, and thanks for all the links you post. well, my credit card doesn’t thank you…but I do
October 13th, 2009 at 6:20 am
i love the classic blk & wht. rock it at my shop all the time!
maybe a dark grey T with purple text?
keep up the good fight!!!
October 13th, 2009 at 6:35 am
The aqua/red and the pink/red are both awesome. My suggestion’s gonna be 80s hot pink and black though.
October 13th, 2009 at 7:43 am
Stumbled on your site and love it!
October 13th, 2009 at 7:49 am
I’m thinking purple with some bitchin’ matching eyeshadow…
October 13th, 2009 at 9:01 am
mustard yellow and maroon. i don’t have a good reason why, but they do remind me of food…
October 13th, 2009 at 9:28 am
Cool blog you have and Congrats on the foodie blogroll!
October 13th, 2009 at 10:36 am
Pink and black, because it’s awesome! And I like to think I look good in pink….
October 13th, 2009 at 12:10 pm
i would have to go with mint green and dark charcoal grey.
October 13th, 2009 at 12:30 pm
ooh do something with bright yellow!
October 13th, 2009 at 1:20 pm
Baby blue with orange logo – for badass girlies.
Likewise, pale pink with orange logo would kick butt.
October 13th, 2009 at 3:28 pm
i always though that black and red was the best combo but you already made that. aside from that, orange and black or grass green and yellow.
October 13th, 2009 at 4:55 pm
Hot pink and black would be cute…and it seems to fit you and your blog.
October 13th, 2009 at 5:00 pm
hot pink and lime green should definitely do it..
October 13th, 2009 at 5:01 pm
Brown and baby (or a tiffany/robins egg) blue… just because it wouldn’t be quite as hot in the florida sun! (Like I go out in the sun that often!)
October 13th, 2009 at 5:08 pm
Dark grey with light pink writing.
They’re my favorite colors cos they’re tough and girly at the same time!! Perfect for Bake and Destroy. <3
October 14th, 2009 at 9:03 am
Bring the pink T’s back. Those are super cute!
October 14th, 2009 at 1:15 pm
Gah!! So many great suggestions so far… lovin the mustard yellow and maroon.. those were my school colours in Elementary.. awesome.
Also love anything with a good solid seafoam…
MY unique suggestion is to have a bit of houndstooth in there.. straight up chef style (because yes, some of us prof. chefs can make cupcakes with the best of ‘em.. and love to!).. maybe a ringer T with the neck and arm bands in houndstooth.. awww yeahhhhh.
FUN!
October 14th, 2009 at 2:55 pm
Do turquoise with red designs! It’s a great combo
October 14th, 2009 at 7:31 pm
I like the cat poo cake. I might have to make that for my Halloween party.
For shirt colors how about red and white?
October 14th, 2009 at 7:56 pm
I’ve gotten tons of positive response from my teal shirt with hot pink lettering. Incidentally, the shirt says PORKCHOPS on the front and APPLESAUCE on the back. G’head, want it.
October 14th, 2009 at 11:51 pm
Your mixer has a mustache? AWESOME.
October 15th, 2009 at 6:34 am
How about dark gray and yellow? I, too, love aqua and red.
October 15th, 2009 at 9:49 am
I’m always a fan of black, maybe with turquoise writing instead of white? Brown with pink or light blue writing is always good too though.
Thanks!
October 15th, 2009 at 1:38 pm
Purple and Black or Purple and Pink
October 15th, 2009 at 1:42 pm
You totally need to do a pink / turquoise combo zip up! Not only will it match my hair & my junko mizuno tattoo but it’ll be the colours of the piercing studio I work in so I might be able to wear it to work without the boss noticing!
October 15th, 2009 at 4:55 pm
Black and Gold (yellow)…but thats cause I’m a Steeler fan of course.
October 16th, 2009 at 1:54 pm
Olive green with pink! The most underrated color combo (and quite flattering, I think).
Also, that photo set is adorable (and the photography is excellent)!
October 17th, 2009 at 3:32 am
I’m for sure gonna have to go with a maroon and gold here–I’m a big harry potter fan and what better way to represent bake-love and harry-love than with a gryffindor bake and destroy shirt!!
October 17th, 2009 at 8:06 am
pink and black rocks it
October 17th, 2009 at 11:31 am
Red & black !!!!!
October 17th, 2009 at 11:39 am
i’d say any color with silver font! it’ll allllll look good.
October 17th, 2009 at 2:16 pm
Bright pink and orange
October 17th, 2009 at 4:32 pm
I think grey and pink would be cool. I mean grey not that ash grey color a lot of shirts you find on vacation.
October 17th, 2009 at 7:59 pm
I was going to say my favorite – purple and black- but then I saw someone’s suggestion of peach and black – awesome! Sassy yet different!
October 18th, 2009 at 12:25 pm
i vote for lilac with dark violet writing! purple rocks!
October 18th, 2009 at 3:34 pm
Yellow and orange – FIRE!!
October 19th, 2009 at 12:49 pm
turquoise and black would rock!
October 19th, 2009 at 1:34 pm
Feeling the black with lime green combo. Black is universal while the lime green has a kick of color. loves.
October 19th, 2009 at 5:29 pm
CMYK somehow..
